The Principal Engineer has over 30 years’ experience in various capacities in the utility industry. At DaTom, we believe that the basis of both good fundamental technical and economical design is based on the mathematics and science of engineering. Our objective is to provide the best level of Electrical Engineering and Project Management services to our clients in a professional, cost effective, friendly and timely manner.
We specialize in Electrical Distribution design, Streetlight design, Traffic Signalization and Illumination for Intersections, Utility conversion rebuild, Overhead Utility Line Design using Spidacalc software, Utility Standard Development, Approval of Materials, Utility Co-ordination, Tender document preparation, Project administration and management and in-field site inspection.

DaTom’s typical design projects are residential, industrial/commercial, sports parks and complexes, utility conversion/rebuilds and intersection improvements.
DaTom Group Ltd. was established in the early 1990s. In the mid 1980s, the principal engineer was hired as a Junior standards engineer at North York Hydro and it is here that the fundamentals of utility engineering was developed. North York Hydro’s in-field training of Junior engineers working for a year with a line crew performing all duties of a journeyman/lineman less live line work. In the 1990s as an employee of Hydro Mississauga, the principal engineer furthered his utility experience by managing various departments including standard, records, AM/FM, inspections and new service connections.

David Tomingas is the Principal Engineer of DaTom Group Ltd. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science specializing in Electrical Engineering and is also a designated Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario since 1989. Along the way, he has completed a business administration program at the University of Toronto in Real Estate Development. Recently he obtained his designation as a Master Electrician.
